Do you want to divorce your partner? Then you always need a lawyer. You can choose one yourself. The lawyer asks the judge to pronounce a divorce. This is done with a ‘divorce order’. If the judge does this and makes the ruling final, your lawyer will pass this on to the municipality within six months. The lawyer asks the registrar to enter this decision in the marriage register. This is done at the municipality where the marriage took place. The registrar then passes the information on to the municipality where you live.
