Municipality of Vlissingen: taking a deceased person out of the Netherlands
With a 'laissez-passer' (permission for transport), you can have a deceased person transported abroad. The municipality where the person passed away must give approval for that transport.
The laissez-passer shows the name of the deceased and the destination.
You tell the funeral director that you want to transport the deceased abroad.
The funeral director needs the following documents from you.
- Valid identification;
- Death certificate;
- Declaration of death.
For example: a medical certificate from a doctor or coroner, or proof of natural death, or a statement from the public prosecutor.
You tell the funeral director that you want to transport the deceased abroad.
The costs in 2026 are as follows.
- Laissez-passer: € 13;
- Postponement of burial: € 13;
- Inheritance: € 12,60;
- Copy of death certificate: € 17,10.
