Municipality of Westland: registering with the municipality for a short stay

Are you coming to the Netherlands, for example for work or study, and staying for less than 4 months? Then we call you a non-resident. All non-residents are listed in the Non-Residents Register (RNI). Registration as a non-resident can be done at an RNI desk (counter) at the Municipality of Westland or one of the other 18 RNI desks. You will then receive a Citizen Service Number (BSN).

If you come to the counter, please bring the following documents:

  •  the QR code you received or the completed PDF questionnaire form "Request for RNI registration"
  • a valid passport or identity card

For your registration, we will need the following information from you:

  • name, date of birth, gender
  • nationality
  • address abroad
  • address where you live when you are in the Netherlands

After your registration, you will receive a Citizen Service Number (BSN) immediately.

To apply and make an appointment with the municipality, visit Inschrijven bij RNI loket | Gemeente Westland (Dutch), or send an email to RNI@gemeentewestland.nl. Include the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Date of Birth
  • Preferred Date for the Appointment
  • Number of Persons for Whom I Would Like to Make an Appointment
  • Your Telephone Number

Registration as a non-resident (RNI) is free of charge. A summary of your registration on paper is called an RNI excerpt. This excerpt is free of charge for your first registration. If you need another one later on, it will cost €11.75.

The municipality will enter you in the RNI during the appointment. You will immediately receive your Burgerservicenummer – BSN (citizen service number).
