Municipality of Stadskanaal: deregistering from the municipality in the event of a long stay outside the Netherlands

Who can deregister from the municipality?

• You yourself, if you are at least 16 years old;
• In case of a child under 16 years old: a parent, guardian or caregiver;
• A parent and a child of at least 18 years old can notify the departure for each other, if they depart to the same address;
• Spouses or registered partners, if they depart to the same address;
• A guardian, if you are under legal restraint;
• Head of a healthcare institution, if the patient is unable to notify the departure themselves;
• Any adult who has received written authorization for this purpose from the applicant.

In case of several people living on the same address (not as registered partners), everyone has to notify the municipality seperately. It is possible to authorize each other.

You can report your departure online on the day of your move. You need your DigiD to do this.

At the service desk

Do you want to report the departure of you (and your family) at the service desk? First make an appointment. Bring a valid form of identification to your appointment.

You must specify your new address at the appointment, if already known. You must always specify the country in which you will be living.

You can report the departure of the following people at the same time as you report your own:

• your spouse;
• your civil partner;
• your children;
• your parents.

These persons must be registered with you at the same address.

Do you have a samenlevingscontract (cohabitation agreement)? If so, you and your partner must report the departure outside the Netherlands separately.

Reporting a move is free of charge.
