Municipality of Oosterhout: deregistering from the municipality in the event of a long stay outside the Netherlands
Please note: you can report that you are moving outside the Netherlands only if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.
The conditions for reporting a move include:
- You are 16 years or older.
- The move is reported by:
- A parent, guardian, or caregiver
- Cohabiting spouses or registered partners for each other (if they are moving to the new address together)
- Cohabiting parents and adult children (18+) for each other (if they are moving to the new address together)
- A legal representative
- An adult with written permission

- Are you moving outside the Netherlands on your own? If so, you can report your departure online.
- Is your entire family moving outside the Netherlands? If so, you must report your departure to the municipality in writing or at its service desk.
Online
You can report your departure online on the day of your move. You need your DigiD to do this.
At the service desk
Do you want to report the departure of you and your family at the service desk? First make an appointment. Bring a valid form of identification to your appointment.
- You must report this within 5 days of your departure.
- Will any family members remain at your current address in the Netherlands?
- You must visit the municipality.
- You must do this together with all family members who are moving abroad with you. This includes any children, if any.
- Everyone must bring a valid form of identification.
- You must inform us of:
- The country in which you will be staying.
- Your first address (including the place name).
- The date of your move.
If you fail to report your departure abroad, the municipality may impose a fine.
Do you need proof of deregistration? Request this from a RNI municipality. These municipalities are Alkmaar, Almelo, Amsterdam, Breda, The Hague, Doetinchem, Eindhoven, Groningen, Goes, Heerlen, Leeuwarden, Leiden, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Terneuzen, Utrecht, Venlo, Westland, and Zwolle.
Reporting a move is free of charge. Do you need proof of deregistration? There is a fee for this. For the cost of proof of deregistration, please contact one of the RNI municipalities.
