Municipality of Roosendaal: applying for youth care for your child

Parenting and Growing Up (youth care)
The youth professionals of Team Youth assist you with all your questions about parenting and growing up. You will receive tips and information. We help both parents and young people.

Please note: You can only apply for youth care if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

What can we do for you?

  • Sometimes we can help directly with an answer to your question. If we need more time, we will register your son or daughter for support from the youth professional.
  • The youth professional can also provide short-term guidance or support.
  • For bigger problems or concerns, we will work with you to find out who can help. We first look at what is possible within your network (family, neighbors, friends) and the neighborhood.
  • Sometimes it is necessary to involve specialized care from a care provider. We will then create a family plan together.

Your child is registered. What happens next?

  • A youth professional will call you to schedule a meeting. This meeting will discuss your concern or problem, but also what is already going well.
  • Next, you and the youth professional will create a family plan together. Do you agree with this plan? Then this plan immediately becomes a request for care.
  • Is specialized care needed? For example, from a psychologist? Then we will choose a suitable care provider in consultation with you. They will continue to discuss with you what you and your child need.
  • The agreements and goals you make with the care provider will be included in an agreement. If you and the youth professional agree, the care provider's assistance will start.

Contact your municipality for more information.

You do not have to pay a personal contribution for this type of assistance.

How long does a youth assistance application take?

A youth assistance application can take several weeks. First, you discuss your concerns with a youth professional. Together, you create a family plan. If you agree, this plan becomes an official request for care. Sometimes specialized help is needed, such as from a psychologist. Then you choose a care provider together. The assistance starts once everyone agrees.

The municipality must make a decision on your application within a reasonable period of eight weeks. In some situations, it may take longer, for example, if more research is needed or if specialized care needs to be involved.

Do you disagree with a decision made by the municipality? Then you can file an objection. If you have done so and disagree with the decision on your objection, you can appeal to the court. Read here how to do that.
