Municipality of Meerssen: applying for youth care for your child

Please note: you can only apply for youth support if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

Do you wish to apply for youth support for your child? The municipality works with an Centrum jeugd en gezin (Youth and Family Centre)]. You can go to a Centrum jeugd en gezin( youth en family centre) for help and advice. You will discuss together what kind of care you need.

Contracted care providers

You can make use of the care purchased by the municipality. To do so, you need a referral from Cnetrum jeugd en gezin(youth en family centre, your GP, a certified institution or a medical specialist, such as a paediatrician. Please consult www.meerssen.nl  for a list of the providers of specialist youth support with which the municipality has concluded a contract.

Would you prefer a personal budget?

Do you think that this care is not sufficient? Or do you need a different type of care for your child? Then you can apply for a personal budget.

In some cases, you may have to pay an ouderbijdrage (parental contribution).

During a home meeting, the municipality tries to choose the best solution together with you. Do you still disagree with the solutions that the municipality has opted for? Then you can request a second meeting with another consultant from the Social Team. This will look again at your situation. This is also known as a 'second opinion'.

You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you subsequently disagree with the decision on the notice of objection? Then appeal to the court.
