Municipality of Valkenswaard: applying to get married
To make your relationship official, you can get married or enter into a registered partnership. You can also have a cohabitation contract drawn up. Are you still not sure which shape suits you best? Then take a look at the government's website.
You report it in the municipality where you want to get married. If you live abroad and one of you is Dutch, the report must be made to the municipality of The Hague. If you live abroad and neither of you have Dutch nationality, it is not possible to get married or register a partnership in the Netherlands.
We wish you good luck with the preparations and a wonderful day.
Notification of marriage or registered partnership You officially report a marriage or registered partnership at least 2 weeks and a maximum of 1 year before the wedding date. Planning a wedding or registered partnership with an extensive ceremony (option 1) takes more time. In that case, we therefore ask you to report at least 8 weeks before the wedding date.
Would you like a free ceremony? Residents of which at least one of them lives in Valkenswaard have priority. For residents from outside the municipality, there is a waiting period of at least one year.
You can report your intended marriage or registered partnership online by both logging in with your DigiD. The payment, which is required for the declaration, is made directly via iDeal.
Make sure the following documents are available for upload:
- copies of your IDs
- copies of proof of identity witnesses
- if getting married on location: completed consent form from the owner of the location.
