Municipality of Bergen (L): applying for special social assistance

You can apply for special social assistance from the municipality if you:

• live in the municipality of Bergen (L);
• incur the costs in the Netherlands.

Burden of proof

When applying you must also send the following:

• a copy of a valid identification document,
• proof of your income,
• the current statements from all  checking and savings accounts,
• proof of assets and/or debts,
• a description of the costs for which you request special social welfare assistance.

The municipality will send you a letter within 8 weeks. This will state whether you are eligible for special social assistance and the amount you will receive. It also states whether you will receive special welfare assistance as a loan or non-repayable allowance (gift).
