Municipality of Arnhem: applying for special social assistance

• You live in Arnhem.
• You are 18 years of age or older.
• You cannot pay the costs yourself because of low income and assets.
• You cannot be reimbursed for the cost in any other way.
• You have not yet paid the fees.

Do you have unexpectedly high energy costs that you cannot pay yourself? Then the following additional condition applies in addition to the above conditions:

• Your energy bill is higher than € 172 per month.

If you have never applied for special assistance before, we will need additional information from you. Please enclose copies of the following information (if applicable):

• a copy of valid proof of ID (passport, identity card or residence document)
• most recent proof of income
• bank statements from the last 6 weeks
• most recent statement of any savings account or other assets
• supporting documents or overview of any debts
• healthcare allowance decision
• health insurance policy
• housing benefit decision
• tenancy agreement and/or overview of the structure of the rent
• child budget decision
• insurance costs
• a copy of the invoice or bill

You apply for special assistance before you incur the expenses. You can get special assistance for necessary expenses due to special circumstances. Examples are:

• costs of legal assistance, court fees or other litigation expenses
• major appliance, white goods (refrigerator or washing machine)
• funeral or cremation costs
• high energy costs
