Province of Overijssel: applying for compensation for damage caused by provincial water management

The province is responsible for water management. Provincial authorities manage this together with the central government, the water boards and the municipal authorities. If you organise activities in, on or near the water, you often need permission.

Certain rules apply regarding:

• the discharge of waste water
• the use of groundwater and surface water
• traffic on waterways
• structures over waterways

If you incur loss or damage as a result of works relating to water management, you can claim compensation from the body carrying out the works.
