You can apply for an SMI if you meet all of the following conditions:

  • Your child is between 0 and 12 years old (or is still attending primary school).
  • You live in the municipality of Koggenland.
  • You are not eligible for childcare benefit from the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
  • There is no other suitable provision available.
  • You have physical, psychological or social problems that mean temporary childcare is necessary.
  • Or a professional has determined that childcare is necessary for the health, safety or development of your child.

You must meet the following conditions:

  • You receive childcare allowance from the Belastingdienst (Tax and Customs Administration).
  • You, your partner and your child are registered with the municipality of Koggenland.

You can apply for a childcare allowance by completing the online form “Social Medical Indication (SMI)”. You will need to log in using your DigiD.

The municipality will send you a letter within 8 weeks informing you whether you are entitled to the compensation for the personal contribution to childcare allowance. That letter will also state how long you will receive the contribution.
