Municipality of Maastricht: apply for an exemption to access to a low emission zone
Trucks and vans
At this moment the Statensingel is the only milieuzone (low-emission zone) in the municipality of Maastricht. Trucks and delivery vans may only enter the low-emission zone if they have emission class 6 or higher. This also applies to vehicles with registration plates issued outside the Netherlands.
An exemption to drive through the Statensingel will only be granted if you actually need to be in the Statensingel or if the location you need to be at can only be reached via the Statensingel.
If the location can be reached via another route, an exemption is not possible.
Exemption
In some cases, you can apply for a day exemption to still have access streets in the the low-emission zone.
The municipality has various exemptions:
- dagontheffing (day exemption);

- ontheffing vanwege levertijd andere auto (exemption due to delivery time of another car);
- ontheffing voor campers en kampeerwagens (dispensation for campers and camper vans);
- ontheffing in bijzondere situaties (exemption in special situations).
- you can apply for an exemption a maximum of 12 times per year per registration number
- your exemption is valid for a maximum of 30 hours: from 00.00 to 06.00 the day after
You can apply for the exemption (in Dutch).
