Municipality of Wierden: registering with the municipality
You must inform us of your move to the Netherlands in person. Please make an appointment for this.
All family members who wish to be registered must come to the appointment with you. This includes babies, young children and elderly people.
- Your valid ID.
- A travel document or other document proving your nationality.
- Documents proving that you live here. For example, a rental contract, proof of ownership or a statement from the main occupant of the home.
- Official documents from your time abroad. For example, a birth certificate, marriage certificate, certificate of recognition or divorce certificate. Please note: if these documents are not in Dutch, English, German or French, they must first be translated and legalised. Do this before you come to the Netherlands.
- If you are going to live with someone or you are going to live together, you need written permission from the main occupant of that address.
- If you are coming to the Netherlands from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius or Sint Maarten, you need proof of deregistration.
- If applicable: your valid residence permit or proof that it has been applied for.
Registration is free of charge. You must pay the costs of translating or legalising official documents that you may need to take with you.
The municipality will register you in the Basisregistratie Personen – BRP (Personal Records Database) during the actual appointment. You will receive a confirmation letter. The municipality will send your citizen service number (BSN) by post within 3 weeks.
