Municipality of Rijssen-Holten: registering with the municipality

You inform us of your move if you are moving within the municipality of Rijssen-Holten or if you come to live in Rijssen-Holten. You do this within 5 days after you have moved or a maximum of 4 weeks before the move. If you are moving to another municipality, please inform that municipality of the move.

The following people may report a move:

  • You are 16 years or older.
  • You have permission from the resident if you move in with someone.
  • The move is communicated by:
     yourself
    a parent, guardian or caregiver
cohabiting spouses or registered partners for each other (if they move to the new address together)
cohabiting parents and adult children (18+) for each other (if they move to the new address together)
a legal representative an adult with written consent

  • Valid proof of identity (passport, driver's license, Dutch identity card or residence permit).
  • Are you coming to live with someone? Then bring proof of permission to move in.

If you are moving to the Netherlands for the first time, you must register with the municipality in which you will live. This is called an 'initial registration'. Have you lived in the Netherlands before, but did you move abroad before October 1994? Then you must also make an 'initial registration'.

The conditions for a first registration in the Netherlands are:

You have Dutch nationality, or
a passport from a European country, or
a residence permit for a definite or indefinite period You will live in the Netherlands for more than 4 months

Are the requested documents not drawn up in Dutch, English, German or French? Or do you not have a multilingual model form? Then you must have them translated. Is the translator sworn in the Netherlands? Then you do not need to have the translation legalized. Is the translator sworn abroad? Then you must have the legalized original document re-legalized in the Netherlands. You can read more about this on the Dutch government's Nederlandwereldwijd.nl

You must personally notify the municipality of your move to the Netherlands. Make an appointment for this.

Registration is free of charge. You must pay the costs of translating or legalising official documents that you may need to take with you.

You report your move from 4 weeks before the moving date until 5 days afterwards. Will you report the move later? Then the date on which you report the move is your official move date.
