Municipality of Oisterwijk: registering with the municipality

Are you moving to Oisterwijk, Moergestel, Haaren or Heukelom from abroad and planning to stay longer than 4 months? Then you have to register within 5 days after your arrival. You do this by making an appointment. Your partner and/or children who will be living here also need to be registered.

All family members who wish to be registered must come to the appointment with you. This includes babies, young children and elderly people.

  • Valid identity document or residence permit of each person being enrolled
  • Travel document or other document indicating the nationality of each person to be registered
  • Proof that you will be living here such as a rental contract or deed of sale of your home or permission of the main tenant with whom you will be living. You draw up a statement for this yourself that you both sign. You bring a copy of the identity document of the main person living with you.
  • For citizens originating from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius or Sint Maarten: proof of deregistration.
  • Were you or your partner and/or children born abroad? Bring a document from the birth certificate that is not older than 6 months
  • If it applies to you: a copy of the marriage certificate, copy of the divorce certificate or copy of the death certificate of your partner. These documents must be legalized, in English, German or French. On rijksoverheid.nl you can read how to legalize a document.

  • You only register if your stay in the Netherlands is lawful. Your stay is lawful if you have the Dutch nationality or that of another European Union country. Or if you have a valid residence permit. You can apply for this at the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).
  • Your registration will be final when we receive notification from the IND that you are residing lawfully in the Netherlands.
  • Use the checklist Moving to the Netherlands to arrange your removal to the Netherlands

Registration is free of charge. You must pay the costs of translating or legalising official documents that you may need to take with you.

The municipality will register you in the Basisregistratie Personen – BRP (Personal Records Database) during the actual appointment. You will receive a confirmation letter. The municipality will send your citizen service number (BSN) by post within 3 weeks.
