Municipality of Nieuwkoop: registering with the municipality
If you are staying in the Netherlands for at least four months in six months and are going to live in the municipality of Nieuwkoop, you must be registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP). You must personally report this to the municipality. You can make an appointment for this. The appointment must take place within five days of arrival. Your family members must also be present at the appointment in person.
- A valid proof of identity (passport, ID card, residence document).
- Other/other documents such as a birth certificate (for more information, please contact the municipality).
Registration is free of charge. You must pay the costs of translating or legalising official documents that you may need to take with you.
The municipality will register you in the Basisregistratie Personen – BRP (Personal Records Database) during the actual appointment. You will receive a confirmation letter. The municipality will send your citizen service number (BSN) by post within 3 weeks.
