- You are moving to Nieuwegein from abroad.
- You have never lived in the Netherlands before. If so, visit Opnieuw verhuizen naar Nederland.
- You will stay here for at least 4 months. If you are living here for less than 4 months, you can register in the Registration of Non-Residents (RNI). This is possible, for example, at the municipality of Utrecht.
- You have a valid residence permit or you have the nationality of a country from the European Economic Area or Switzerland.
Please note: different rules apply to refugees from Ukraine.
- Your passport. Also from your family members, if they move with you.
- Rental contract or deed of sale. We only need the part that contains your address and personal data. And the page with the signatures.
- Official documents from your time abroad. For example, a birth certificate, marriage certificate, recognition certificate or divorce certificate.
Please note: if these documents are not in Dutch, English, German or French, they must first be translated and legalized. Do this before you come to the Netherlands. View the conditions per country
And in some cases:
- A residence permit. Or proof that it has been applied for and granted.
- If you are going to live with someone: a statement of consent (pdf, 244 kB) and a copy of the main resident's identity document. If you are going to live with someone who rents a house and are you not related to each other, than bring a consent statement from the housing association with you.
- If you come from Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, Sint Eustatius or Sint Maarten: proof of deregistration from the population register.
Make an appointment via the Verhuizen naar Nederland page.
Registration is free of charge. You must pay the costs of translating or legalising official documents that you may need to take with you.
