Municipality of Hoogeveen: registering with the municipality

You must inform us of your move to the Netherlands in person. You must make an appointment to do this.

  • You have the dutch nationality
  • Or you have another nationality from a country which is part of the EU
  • Or you have permanent or temporary residence permit
  • All family members who wish to be registered must be present at the appointment with you. This includes babies, young children and elderly people.

  • A valid document of identity (passport or ID-card) 
  • Original documents from abroad of yourself and of your children, such as certificates of birth, a marriage certificate or a deed of divorce.
  •  A rental contract or contract of sale of your home or your proprietor's persmission.
  • A proof of deregistration when you come from Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba or Sint Eustatius.

Registration is free of charge. You must pay the costs of translating or legalising official documents that you may need to take with you.

The municipality will register you in the Basisregistratie Personen – BRP (Personal Records Database) during the actual appointment. You will receive a confirmation letter. The municipality will send your citizen service number (BSN) by post within 3 weeks.
