Municipality of Arnhem: registering with the municipality
You are moving to the Netherlands for the first time from abroad and plan to live in the Netherlands for at least 4 months. Register at the municipality within 5 days after your arrival. You must make an appointment to do this.
All family members who wish to be registered must come to the appointment with you. This includes babies, young children and elderly people.
- A valid proof of identity or valid residence permit.
- A travel document or a different document that shows your nationality.
- Proof of deregistration if you are from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Saba or St. Eustatius.
- Original foreign documents (such as marriage certificate or birth certificate) that meet the requirements for legalization and translation.
- Documents that prove your occupation of your house or building (for example a lease or property deed).
Students from abroad can also make an appointment for first registration in Arnhem. Choose for the appointment: 'first registration, immigration student EU' or 'first registration, immigration student non EU'.
Registration is free of charge. You must pay the costs of translating or legalising official documents that you may need to take with you.
Within 4 weeks, your registration will be complete. For non-European Union residents, the Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst (IND- Immigration and Naturalization Service) must approve first. You will receive a written confirmation of your registration and your Burgerservicenummer (BSN - Citizen Service Number). Then check your details via myoverheid.nl .
