Municipality of Aalsmeer: registering a stillborn baby

You can register your stillborn child in the Personal Records Database (Basisregistratie Personen; BRP) if you live or are going to live in Aalsmeer. To do so, you will need to make an appointment with the municipality by telephone. After your appointment at the town hall, your child will be registered in the BRP.

For an appointment, please call the municipality: +31 297 38 75 75.

  • A stillbirth certificate (‘_akte van geboorte (levenloos)_’) must be drawn up by the civil registry. This can only be done by the municipality where your child was born. If that was Aalsmeer, you can have the certificate drawn up at the same time as the registration in the BRP.
  • If your child was not born in Aalsmeer, you must bring the stillbirth certificate with you to your appointment at the town hall.
  • It is not mandatory to have your child included in your personal data. You decide for yourself whether you wish to do this.
  • You can only submit a request to add your child to your own personal data. If the other parent also wishes to do this, they must submit a personal request at the town hall.

  • A valid passport or ID card.
  • (Optional): Your marriage booklet if you wish to have your child included in it.
  • If your child was not born in Aalsmeer: the stillbirth certificate.

There are no costs associated with registering a stillborn child in the BRP.

As soon as the registration has been processed, a confirmation will be sent to your address. You will also see your child’s details when you log in to MijnOverheid. The registration is not passed on to other agencies that use the BRP.
