Municipality of Amstelveen: registering a foreign document
You can have your foreign document registered at the counter in the Town Hall. The municipality will then enter your deed in the Personal Records Database (Basisregistratie Personen; BRP). Please note: you can only register a foreign document if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with the municipality.
Make an appointment for your visit to the Town Hall: +31 20 540 49 11.
You must bring the following documents to the appointment:
- the original document;
- your passport and/or identity card (or a copy thereof);
- an official translation of the document by a sworn translator; this is only necessary if the document is not in Dutch, English, German or French.
Having a document converted into a Dutch document
Do you wish to have your document converted into an official Dutch document? If so, you must first register your foreign document with the municipality in which you are registered. You can then have the document converted into a Dutch document in the municipality of The Hague. To do this, make an appointment with the municipality of The Hague.
The registration of a foreign document is free of charge.
After your appointment at the Town Hall, it can take up to 4 weeks before the new data is included in the BRP. If there are any documents missing or more research is required, then the process can take longer.
