You can report the death of a person yourself. You report the death to the municipality where the death has occurred. Please contact us: +31 599 320 220.

Digital registration by funeral directors

You can also ask whether a funeral director can do the registration on your behalf. Funeral directors who are established in the Netherlands can send an e-mail for this purpose: burgerlijkestand@westerwolde.nl.

• As a next of kin, you will immediately get the extract of the 'death certificate' and the 'burial or cremation authorisation'
• Funeral directors will receive the extract and other documents, if any, the same or no later than the next working day
