Municipality of Gennep: registering a death

When someone passes away, usually the funeral organisation arranges the declaration of death. As a relative, you can also file the death certificate yourself.

A death can only be registered at the Town Hall when someone passed away within the borders of the municipality.

It is required to bring with you:

  • A valid travel document for identification
  • A signed release paper from a doctor declaring the person dead

In special cases, additional requirements may be in place. Contact your local Town Hall for extra information in special conditions or circumstances.

Declaration by surviving dependants
