Municipality of Arnhem: registering a death

Report the death within 6 working days in the municipality where the person died. Usually the funeral director arranges this for you, but you can also do it yourself.

Funeral directors can file online death notification with eHerkenning level 3.

Filing a death certificate

Provision of extract and leave

We will send you the death certificate with a digital signature and stamp by mail. The extract from a death certificate, with a signature and a stamp, we will send you by mail.

Provision of cause of death statement to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS)

Send the cause of death statement (B statement) you receive from the doctor by registered mail to CBS:

Declaration by family or acquaintance of the deceased

If the person has died in Arnhem, you can go to the City Hall to report this without an appointment.

Registering a death is free of charge. An official copy of the death certificate costs € 17,10.

We prepare the extract from the death certificate. The death deed is processed in the Basisregistratie Personen (BRP) of the municipality of residence. The information is also updated with any partner.
