Online birth registration

To register the birth of your child online, you need:

• DigiD login details of (both) parent(s). The parent(s) must be registered in the BRP.
• Statement from the midwife or doctor. You must upload this.
• Was your child recognized before birth? Then you must upload the certificate of recognition.
• Did you choose a name before birth? Then you must upload the deed of choice of name.

At the service desk

Bring with you to the appointment:

• valid proof of identity of (both) parent(s) (passport, driving license, Dutch identity card or alien's document);
• certificate of birth. You will receive this from the midwife or doctor.

If applicable, please also bring:

• copy of the certificate of recognition if the child was already recognized before birth;
• copy of the deed of choice of name if you made a choice of name before the birth;
• statement from the Foundation for donor data for artificial fertilization. This may apply if the child was born within a marriage or registered partnership of 2 women;
• marriage booklet or partnership booklet.

Registering a birth is free of charge. You pay a fee for a birth certificate. For more information, contact the municipality.
