Municipality of Oisterwijk: registering a birth

Inform the municipality directly of the birth of your child. You can do so:

Bring if you have an appointment

Obliged Identity document of the declarant

Identification document of the mother, if she is not the declarant

The 'birth declaration' form from the hospital or midwife

Not required

If the parents are married: marriage certificate 

If the child is recognized before the birth: certificate of recognition 

If the father wants to recognize the child: written permission and proof of identity from the mother 

If the surname of the child has yet to be chosen, the mother must also come along

When to register a birth?

Born on Monday: report by Thursday at the latest

Born on Tuesday: report by Friday at the latest

Born on Wednesday: report by Monday at the latest

Born on Thursday: report by Monday at the latest

Born on Friday: report by Tuesday at the latest

Born on Saturday: report by Tuesday at the latest

Born on Sunday: report by Wednesday at the latest

If the last day falls on a public holiday, you file the declaration the next working day.

Registering a birth is free of charge. A birth certificate costs: € 16,60

You pay a fee for a birth certificate.

About 2-3 weeks after the birth registration, the parents receive the citizen service number (BSN) of the child by post.
