Municipality of Oisterwijk: registering a birth

Inform the municipality directly of the birth of your child. You can do this on the website of Oisterwijk.

You report the birth of your child to us within 3 working days. You do this in the municipality where your child was born. You can report the birth online. You both log in with your DigiD.

Bring with you when you have an appointment

Bring with you:

  • When you declare the birth at the commonwealth office, bring the following:
  • A valid ID of yourself and the mother
  • Acknowledgement certificate (if you have already acknowledged the child). Do you want to acknowledge the child during the birth declaration? Then also bring a written consent and proof of identity from the mother
  • The birth declaration form from the hospital or midwife
  • A marriage booklet (if you want to register the child in it)
  • If the child's last name has yet to be chosen, the mother must also come with you

Who may declare the birth

Both parents may make the declaration. Sometimes circumstances make it impossible. Then someone else who was at the birth can declare the birth.

When to declare birth?

If the last day falls on a public holiday, you must file the declaration on the next working day.

Registering a birth is free of charge. A birth certificate costs: € 17,10

About 2 to 3 days after the birth registration, you will receive your child's citizen service number (BSN) by mail.
