Municipality of Nieuwkoop: registering a birth

Inform the municipality within 3 days of the birth of your child. You can do this at the service desk. Contact the municipality to book an appointment.

When registering the birth, please bring the following:

your ID
if the parents are married: the marriage certificate
if the mother does not live in the Nieuwkoop municipality: her proof of identity
if the child was recognized before birth: the deed of recognition
if you want to choose the surname: the biological mother
if the child was born within a registered partnership or marriage between 2 women, with an unknown donor: donor statement from Donordata Foundation

The father or mother reports. You can report the birth online with your DigiD. The online birth registration must include a statement from the obstetrician or general practitioner. You can also report a birth at the town hall. Make an appointment for this.

Registering a birth is free of charge.
