Municipality of Koggenland: registering a birth
Inform the municipality within 3 days of the birth of your child. You can do this at the service desk. Contact the municipality to book an appointment.
The mother, father, or co-mother must register the birth.
If none of them is able to do so, one of the following people may register the birth on their behalf:
- Any person who was present at the birth.
- If the child was born at home: a person living in the same household.
- If the child was born in a hospital: the head of the hospital or an employee authorized by the head of the hospital.
- If none of the above is possible, the birth will be registered by, or on behalf of, the mayor of the municipality where the child was born.
Birth certificate
After the birth has been registered, the municipality will prepare a birth certificate. The birth certificate includes:
- Your child's first name(s) and surname.
- The names of the parents.
- The child's date, time, and place of birth.
If you wish, you can purchase a certified copy of the birth certificate during your appointment.
Registering a birth is free of charge.
