Municipality of Emmen: paying the waste collection charge

You pay the following waste collection charge in the municipality of Emmen:

Fixed + variable rate

You pay a fixed rate and a variable rate.

Fixed rate

• single-person households, € 220,00;
• two-person households, € 220,00;
• multi-person households, € 220,00.

Variable rate

You can also pay a variable rate. This amount depends on the number of times you dispose of waste or have it collected.

You pay for each time you dispose of waste. The following rates apply:

• container: € 7,00;
• rubbish bag: € 2,00;

Waste collection charge letter

The municipality will send you a letter stating how much you have to pay for waste disposal. It will also state how and by what date you must pay.

Pay on time

Make sure that you pay on time. Otherwise you will have to pay a fine.

Relief

You can ask the municipality whether you are entitled to an exemption for paying part of the charge. That expemtion is referred to as kwijtschelding. Whether you are entitled to an exemption depends on your personal situation.
