Municipality of Westland: paying tourist tax

Are you spending the night in a hotel or bed & breakfast in a municipality where you do not live? Then you must pay toeristenbelasting (tourist tax).

Tourist tax is paid for an overnight stay in a municipality where you are not registered, for example, in a hotel, caravan, or bungalow. The tourist tax is paid for the use of the facilities in our municipality, such as clean beaches, streets, and the maintenance of roads.

This tax is included in the price of your overnight stay. You therefore pay it automatically.

In 2023, the rate is 5% of the basic overnight price with a minimum of €1.25 per person per night. The basic overnight price is the price charged by the landlord for the accommodation. Additional costs are not included here. Additional costs include, for example: breakfast, room service, internet, or sauna.
