Municipality of Valkenburg aan de Geul: paying tourist tax
Starting in 2024, the levy and collection of the tourist tax on behalf of the municipality will be carried out by BsGW.
If you have a place where tourists can stay overnight, such as a campsite or hotel, you are required to pay tourist tax. You are allowed to pass on the tourist tax to your guest. To do this, you must record the number of guests and overnight stays. You should list the tourist tax separately on the invoice to your guest.
The conditions for paying tourist tax include the following:
- Your guests pay for the overnight stay.
- The guest is not registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) of this municipality.

You can file an objection with the municipality within 6 weeks of the assessment. If you still disagree with the decision on your objection, you can appeal to the court.
