Municipality of Weststellingwerf: paying the sewage charge
Please note: you only have to pay rioolheffing (sewage charge) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.
The municipality can impose a sewerage charge on the owner and/or user of a building, residential or commercial space. The municipality of Weststellingwerf has chosen to only impose a sewerage tax assessment on owners. This tax is used, for example, to cover the construction of the sewerage system. An owner must pay for the construction costs, such as waterproofing basements, himself.
Payment
You will receive a letter from the municipality stating the amount of the sewage charge. The letter will state how and by what date you must pay.
Exemption
You can ask the municipality whether you are entitled to an exemption in respect of (part of) the charge. That is referred to as kwijtschelding.
