Municipality of Venlo: paying the sewage charge

Please note: you only have to pay rioolheffing (sewage charge) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

In determining the sewage charge, the municipality does not make any distinction between the owner and the user. Account is taken of how much water you consume on an annual basis.

You pay a fixed sewage rate for the use of the sewer on your plot. From 1,001 m3 of water you pay extra an amount per m3 of water that you use.

Payment

You will receive a letter from Belastingsamenwerking Gemeenten en Waterschappen (BsGW) stating the amount of the sewage charge. The letter will state how and by what date you must pay.

Paying on time

Pay on time to avoid having to pay extra charges.

Exemption

You can ask Belastingsamenwerking Gemeenten en Waterschappen (BsGW) whether you are entitled to an exemption in respect of (part of) the charge. That is referred to as kwijtschelding.

Do you disagree with the sewage charge? You can object at Belastingsamenwerking Gemeenten en Waterschappen (BsGW).
