Municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân: paying the sewage charge
Please note: you only have to pay rioolheffing (sewage charge) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.
In determining the sewage charge, the municipality makes a distinction between a user and an owner of the property. The sewage charge therefore consists of an owner component and a user component. Therefore 2 rates apply.
You pay a fee for this service. For more information go to the website of Súdwest-Fryslân (in Dutch). You will receive a letter from the municipality stating the amount of the sewage charge. The letter will state how and by what date you must pay.
Paying on time
Pay on time to avoid having to pay extra charges.
Exemption
You can ask the municipality whether you are entitled to an exemption in respect of (part of) the charge. That is referred to as kwijtschelding (in Dutch).
Do you disagree with the sewage (in Dutch) charge? You can object via the website.
