Municipality of Heerenveen: paying the sewage charge

Please note: you only have to pay rioolheffing (sewage charge) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality. Are you not connected to the sewer? Then you do not pay sewage charges.

The following rates apply:

Houses: fixed rate single-person household € 198.00, multi-person household € 263.00.
Non-residential areas: depending on the amount of wastewater discharged, with a minimum rate of € 395.00 for consumption up to 50 m3 and € 616.00 for consumption between 50 m3 and 200 m3.

Do you use more than 200 m3?

then you pay for the first 200 m3 of drained water, per year € 308.00 per 100 m3
for the following m3 up to and including 1,000 m3 per year € 229.00 per 100 m3
for the following m3 up to and including 10,000 m3 per year € 166.00 per 100 m3
for the following m3 up to and including 50,000 m3 per year € 87.00 per 100 m3
for the subsequent m3 up to and including 100,000 m3 per year € 52.00 per 100 m3
for the next m3 of drained water per year € 26.00 per 100 m3.

Exemption

You can ask the municipality whether you are entitled to an exemption in respect of (part of) the charge. That is referred to as kwijtschelding. Request via the Digital Tax Desk (log in with DigiD).
