Municipality of Geertruidenberg: paying the sewage charge

Please note: you only have to pay  rioolheffing (sewage charge) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

In determining the sewage charge, the municipality makes a distinction between a user and an owner of the (business) property. The sewage charge therefore consists of an owner component and a user component. Different  rates apply

You pay a fixed rate and a variable rate.

Fixed rate

You pay a fixed rate based on the number of people in your household: € 166,56.

Variable rate

You also pay a variable rate. This amount depends on the number persons in your household.

  • single-person households, from €  39,49;
  • two-person households, from €  53,16;
  • three-person households, from €  61,56;
  • multi-person households, from €  84,48.

By letter

You will receive a letter from the municipality stating the amount of the sewage charge. The letter will state how and by what date you must pay.

Paying on time

Pay on time to avoid having to pay extra charges.

Exemption

You can ask the municipality whether you are entitled to an exemption in respect of (part of) the charge. That is referred to as kwijtschelding. For more information go to geertruidenberg.nl/kwijtschelding-gemeentelijke-belastingen.
