Municipality of Arnhem: paying the sewage charge
Please note: you only have to pay rioolheffing (sewage charge) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.
In determining the sewage charge, the municipality makes a distinction between a user and an owner of the property. The sewage charge therefore consists of an owner component and a user component. Therefore 2 rates apply.
The sewage charge is a percentage of the WOZ value. The percentages for 2022 are as follows:
- Owner’s share house: 0.0307%
- Occupier’s share house: 0.0307%
- Owner’s share other than house: 0.0643%
- Occupier’s share other than house: 0.0643%
Pay in time
You will receive a letter from the municipality stating the amount of the sewage charge, unless you have previously indicated in MijnOverheid that you wish to receive your mail digitally. The assessment states how you must pay. and before what date this must be done. Visit the website of the municipality for more information about paying municipal taxes. Pay in time to avoid paying extra.
Remission
You can ask the municipality to not have to pay (part of) the levy. This is called remission. Visit the website of the municipality for more information about applying for remission.
Do you disagree with the sewage charge? You can object.
