Municipality of Amsterdam: notifying the municipality when you move home

You will need the following documents to notify us when you move house:

Online

  • a tenancy agreement or purchase contract for your new home.
  • a consent form (PDF, 160 KB) (PDF) allowing you to register at the address.
  • in the case of anti-squat: the user agreement.

By post

Make sure the letter includes:

•    your full name and date of birth 
•    your former address 
•    your new address 
•    your signature.

  • Attach a photocopy of a valid identification document. For example a passport, identification card or driving licence.
  • a copy of the original lease contract or contract of sale for your residence or a consent form (PDF, 160 KB) (PDF) signed by the primary resident, including a copy of their ID. The copy must include the photo and the signature.
  • in the case of anti-squat: the user agreement.

City Office

Documents to bring with you

  • Passport, ID card, driving licence or residence permit
  • A copy of your tenancy agreement or purchase contract for your new home, up to and including the signature page.
  • If you live at someone else’s main residence, a  consent form (PDF, 160 KB)  signed by the primary resident and a copy of their passport, driver’s licence or ID card
  • If you are a live-in guardian (antikraak): a copy of the user

Providing notification of your move

Online

Log in using your DigiD and provide notification of your move online. 

By post

You can also provide notification of your move by post. Please write a letter to:

City Office

You must apply in person at a City Office. An appointment is not needed except in Weesp where you must first make an appointment (form in Dutch).

It is free to notify a move.

Your move will be processed within 3 weeks.
