Important after the adjustment
After the amendment of the birth certificate, we will notify the municipality where you live. You will receive a message from them when your gender has been changed in the personal records database (BRP). You can see if the entry of your gender has been changed on MijnOverheid. Government organizations connected to the BRP automatically will receive the changes. You will have to inform other organizations yourself that your gender and possibly your first names have been changed.
The amendment of your gender on your birthcertificate is free.
Your passport, identity card and/or driver's license will no longer be valid after the adjustment of your information in the BRP. You will have to request new documents in the municipality where you live. The municiplaity of Doetinchem will reimburse you once for a new identity card after a gender change.
