Municipality of Bergen (L): exemptions from compulsory school attendance

You may be granted an exemption if:

• your child has psychological or physical health issues that prevent them from attending school;
• no school in your neighborhood suits your lifestyle or your religion;
• your child attends school abroad;
• you do not live and work in one place. For example, because you work at a fair or the circus.

You apply for an exemption from compulsory education before July 1st of each year to the municipal compulsory education officer. The exemption applies for one year at a time.
