Municipality of Bergeijk: exemptions from compulsory school attendance
Please note: you can only apply for an exemption from compulsory education if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.
Exemption from enrollment in a school
- In case of psychological and physical complaints: a statement from a doctor, educationalist or psychologist.
- If you feel that none of the schools in your area fit your beliefs or outlook on life, a statement explaining why.
- If your child attends school abroad: a statement from the director of the foreign school.
Exemption from school attendance
If you need to request leave from the principal of the school: supporting documents showing that the leave is necessary. For example, the invitation to a wedding or an obituary.

There are no costs associated with an application for special leave or exemption from compulsory education.
