Applying for support by your municipality for reintegration into the labour market

Have you been out of work for a long time? Do you want to start working again? Your municipality can support you for your return to work. This is known as reintegration (re-integratie).

If you receive benefits from your municipality, this municipality will help you find a job. This support is provided in the form of training, work or guidance (in Dutch).

You cannot refuse the municipality’s support. If you do, the municipality may lower your benefits.

This is how it works for you

To find a job

Please note: you can only apply for support to reintegrate into the labour market  if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

Do you live in Hoorn and are you looking for work? For advice, you can contact the Youth Desk Westfriesland, WerkSaam Westfriesland and the UWV.

Young people between 16 and 27 years old

Young people between the ages of 16 and 27 without work or education can turn to the Westfriesland Youth Desk in Hoorn. More information can be found on the Jongerenloket Westfriesland (Youth Desk Westfriesland) page.

Find work if you don't receive benefits

If you do not receive benefits and are looking for work, you can get help from WerkSaam Westfriesland. More information can be found on the WerkSaam Westfriesland website.

Find work if you receive benefits

You can contact the UWV with a WW benefit (unemployment benefit) or disability benefit. You can go to WerkSaam Westfriesland with a social assistance benefit.

If you receive benefits, you also have obligations. For example, you must do everything you can to get back to work.

For example:

  • Try to find paid work. You must look for vacancies, apply for jobs and be registered with 1 or more employment agencies.
  • Look for work not only in the area where you live, but also in the surrounding areas  or beyond. What happens if you find or are offered work? Then you must accept that work.
  • Be prepared to travel for work.
  • Cooperate with the municipality to create and implement a plan for your reintegration.
  • Actively update or improve your knowledge and skills.
