Municipality of Tilburg: applying for study benefit for students with a disability

NB. You can only apply for a study allowance if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

The following conditions apply:

  • You have a medical, psychological and/or intellectual disability.
  • You are entitled to student finance or a contribution under the WTOS.
  • You are not able to have a part-time job next to your studies. 
  • You will not receive a Wajong benefit from the UWV.

You must have DigiD to apply for a study allowance.

You will also need:

  • Copy of proof of identity (ID card or passport).
  •  Copy of proof that you are not able to earn extra while studying or earn the minimum wage. You are not obliged to do this. We may then request medical advice.
  •  Copy bank statements for the last three (full) months, of all current accounts
  •  WSF/WTOS award decision Proof of registration training

You can apply for a study allowance in the municipality where you live, even if you are studying in another municipality. The allowance starts on the first day of the month in which you apply for it and counts for the duration of your studies. You can apply by filling in the form on the website of the municipality of Tilburg.

With the application you always send:

Amounts study allowance

The amount of the study allowance depends on your age. These are the legal amounts per month:

  • 21 years and older: € 302.79;
  •  20 years: € 242.23;
  •  19 years: € 181.67;
  •  18 years: € 151.40;
  •  17 years: €119.60;
  •  16 years: € 104.46;
  •  15 years: €90.84.

You will receive a letter with the result within 8 weeks of your application. Is the application incomplete or does the investigation take more time? Then the processing can take longer than 8 weeks.

Do you disagree with a decision of the municipality? Then you can submit a notice of objection using DigiD.
