Municipality of Helmond: applying for study benefit for students with a disability
The individual study allowance is an allowance for students with disabilities. As these students cannot or hardly have a secondary job alongside their studies due to their disability, they can apply for the individual study allowance. This provides a helping hand to still do a study programme.
How high is the study allowance?
The study allowance amounts to 25% of the applicant's minimum wage. It is paid monthly. You are not entitled to study allowance if you have other income besides study financing.
The conditions for applying for a study allowance are:
- You are at least 15 years old.
- You have a disability.
- You receive study financing or a contribution thanks to the Wet tegemoetkoming onderwijsbijdrage en schoolkosten (WTOS).
- You are not entitled to Wajong benefit.
- You cannot have a secondary job because of your disability.
You are entitled to study allowance as long as you receive study financing or a contribution under the WTOS (Contribution to Education Costs and Benefits Act), but for a maximum of 4 years.
Would you like to apply for individual study allowance? Then contact the Municipality of Helmond by telephone on 14 0492. We will check whether you are eligible and, if so, send you an application form.
