Municipality of Arnhem: applying for study benefit for students with a disability
Many students have a part-time job to earn extra money. But if you have a long-term illness or a disability, you may not be able to work alongside your studies. You may then qualify for study benefit.
Amount of study benefit
- Study benefit amounts are set every six months (on 1 January and 1 July).
- The study benefit depends on your age. Up to 21 years of age, it is increased every year.
- You may keep part of the internship allowance without this affecting the amount of the study benefit. The trainee allowance above this amount (exemption amount) will be deducted from the study allowance.
- Rijksoverheid (national government) lists the current amounts on their website.
- You live within the municipality of Arnhem.
- You receive study financing from DUO or an allowance under the Wet tegemoetkoming onderwijsbijdrage en schoolkosten (WTOS).
- You do not receive life-long learning credit.
- You do not receive Wajong benefits.
- You cannot work alongside your studies due to a long-term illness or disability.
Applying for study benefit retroactively
You can apply for study benefit retroactively until a maximum of 1 April 2022. To do so, you have to meet the conditions for the period for which you apply for the study benefit. If you apply for study benefit retroactively, you must also send the necessary documents for this period.
- A copy of a valid identification document (passport or identity card).
- A copy of a recent bank statement (to verify the account number provided).
- Proof that you receive study financing from DUO or an allowance under the Wet tegemoetkoming onderwijsbijdrage en schoolkosten (WTOS).
- If you are doing an internship, you must also include a copy of the internship agreement with the application. This should state the period of the internship and the amount of the internship allowance.
