Municipality of Twenterand: applying for social assistance
Please note: you can only apply for bijstand (social assistance) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.
You must meet the following conditions to apply for social assistance benefits. These are: You are 18 years or older.
You are Dutch or equivalent. You are equated with a Dutch citizen if you come from an EU country, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. You are also treated as such if you have a valid residence permit or otherwise reside lawfully in the Netherlands. For example, if you are conducting legal proceedings against a rejection of your residence permit.
You live or are staying in the Netherlands.
You have no or insufficient income of your own.
You have no equity or equity that is lower than the maximum amount. Think of savings or your own home.
You cannot receive any other benefit. For example, unemployment benefits or disability benefits.
You are not excluded from the right to social assistance benefits. That is, for example, when you are in prison.
If you are entitled to benefits, you must first register via the reporting form on the website of the municipality of Twenterand.
