Municipality of Westerwolde: applying for a second passport

Note. You can only apply for a second passport if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

You can apply for a second passport if:

  • you hold Dutch citizenship
  • your first passport is valid for at least another 6 months.
  • It is for a business trip, or necessary for booking a trip.
  • If you are going to a country to which you cannot travel with a Dutch identity card.

To obtain a second passport, you apply in person at the municipality where you live. You will also pick up the passport in person. Please contact us: +31 599 320 220. 

Emergency application

Will five working days take too long? In that case you can apply for an emergency application. Please note that you must pay a surcharge. If you make your emergency passport application before 2pm, you can collect the passport the following working day after 10am

Do you need the document even sooner? It may be possible to get an emergency passport from the Marechaussee (Royal Netherlands Military Constabulary). You can find more information on Defensie.nl.

You can collect your passport from the municipality after 5 working days. You will have 3 months to collect your second passport.

A second passport is valid for 2 years.
