Municipality of Hoorn: applying for a second passport

Please note: you can only apply for a second passport if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

A second passport is valid for 2 years

To apply for a second passport, you must meet the following conditions:

  • You are a Dutch citizen.
  • Your first passport is valid for at least another 6 months.
  • You can demonstrate that you need the second passport.
  • You are travelling to a country that you cannot enter using a Dutch identity card.

Please bring the following items with you to the appointment at the town hall:

  • All travel documents (passport and identity card) that you have, even if they are no longer valid.
  • A matching color passport photo. The passport photo is no more than six months old at the time of application. 
  • A debit card (or cash).
  • Evidence showing that you need the second passport.

To apply for a second passport, make an appointment at the municipality.

A second passport costs € 83,87. You pay the costs for your second passport when you apply at the town hall.

You can pick up the second passport 5 working days after the application. With an urgent application, it takes 1 to 2 working days before the passport is ready. It is possible to have your second passport delivered.
