Municipality of Heerenveen: applying for a second passport

Please note: you can only apply for a second passport if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

Do you regularly travel to many different countries for your work? Then you may need a second passport. You can request this from the municipality. 

One time visit

You cannot get a second passport for a one-time visit abroad. You can, however, apply for an emergency passport at the Ministry of the Interior.

What can you use a second passport for?

You can use a second passport, for example, if your passport contains stamps of countries with which the country you want to go to is in conflict. Then you can be admitted with your second passport. You can also use a second passport if you are traveling consecutively to different countries that require you to apply for a visa. If you do not have your passport back in time due to the second visa application, you can apply for a second passport.

You must apply for a second passport in person at the municipality where you live. You must also collect the passport in person.

  • €  58,85 (till 18 jaar)

You pay a fee when you apply.

A second passport is valid for 2 years.
